Back Swan
Black Swan; The Ballet Thriller and in parts it is thrilling. It had me jumping in my seat a couple of times! But ultimately this hot and sweaty ballet world of sexual exploration left me cold. Why? Because I was not convinced by the story of the main character (played brilliantly by Natalie Portman) I was expecting and hoping for a dramatic change from innocent girl to man eating siren but it never came. The character just got more confused between reality and her imaginings. The best parts of the film are disappointingly revealed as illusions leaving behind the same scared, prudish character that we saw at the start. So where is the character change, the arc that we as script developers want to see? Exactly - nowhere or at least not that I could find.
